Love is in the air as Valentine’s Day approaches, but not everyone feels the festive spirit. Some people stress over putting together romantic gestures for their partners, while others participate in Anti-Valentine's Singles Awareness Day (SAD) events.

Fortunately, love comes in all shapes and sizes, so Valentine’s Day doesn’t need to cause anxiety. Grapevine, Texas, is a wonderful city for making Valentine’s Day your own. Plan something fun and unique based on your interests and create new traditions to carry forward.

Grab your friends for a Galentines or Palentines outing, or wrangle your family for a fun night out. Single people, Treat Yo Self! Celebrate what an awesome person you have grown into. We even made a handy list of fun ideas to help you plan a perfect holiday weekend.

Grapevine Offers Candy Options Aplenty

Candy and chocolates are two of the top gifts shared on Valentine’s Day. More than half (56%) of Americans plan to buy sweets for their loved ones this year. Fortunately, Grapevine residents have multiple options to purchase candy gifts for their partners, families, and friends.

  • The local Kilwin’s store is run by a mother-daughter pair that gives back to the community while serving up ice cream, caramel apples, and other decadent treats.
  • Dr. Sue’s Chocolates was started by a practicing doctor in Dallas who turned her chocolate-making hobby into a business. You can find her store in the heart of the Historic District.
  • Rocket Fizz offers classic sodas and retro vibes as unique as its selection.
  • Newcomers Kate Weisner Chocolates and Sugar Shack cover the full confection spectrum, from hand-painted luxury chocolates to bulk options for all your favorites.

There’s research behind why chocolate is so popular. According to the 6th Annual State of Treating, 56% of Americans believe that chocolate and candy are affordable treats, even if they pay a little more for boutique creations. A little splurge on Main Street sweets is still in the budget for most people.

Valentine's Day is Increasingly Popular With Families

Another reason chocolate is a popular choice for Valentine’s Day is the holiday's evolving traditions. While 51.6% of people say Valentine’s Day is important to their significant other, 43.3% celebrate with their family and friends. Date night becomes a family night out, or a Galentine’s Day brunch with your besties.

Grapevine can help you celebrate, no matter what you’re planning. Families will love the vast array of entertainment options in the city. The SEA LIFE Grapevine Aquarium, for example, usually has fun Valentine’s enrichment activities planned, so the animals can play and kids can learn. There are also recreation opportunities to get outside as Spring breaks through in Texas.

If you are celebrating with your chosen family, either your gal-pals or close friends, pair wine with cheese for a fun night in. Tasting rooms all over town can help you pick out a delicious bottle or two, while YaYaYum Boards brings charcuterie to the next level – and accommodates noshing groups of all sizes.

Grapevine Is Ideal for Walking Through Romantic Downtowns

Some people are planners, while others love to see where the world takes them. Grapevine is ideal if you are looking for walkable communities where you can window-shop, find unique restaurants, and enjoy a spontaneous evening.

Each neighborhood in Grapevine has its own vibe, from the Hallmark Movie feel of downtown to the Teen Movie experience of Grapevine Mills. Consider heading out on Valentine’s Day to see what unique events you stumble upon, from live music performances to fun activities for couples and families alike.

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be stressful. Think of this as a fun opportunity to reconnect with your partner, whether you are newlyweds or celebrating decades of marriage. It’s still important to have dates, even if you usually prefer figs.
