Grapevine City Council approved a $1.2 million grant program March 2 to assist with the reconstruction of two blocks of East Worth Street over the course of two summers.

The proposed 47th- and 48th-year Community Development Block Grant program, in conjunction with Tarrant County, will focus on the 600 and 700 blocks of East Worth Street, stretching from Austin Street to Ruth Street. These two blocks run adjacent to the Grapevine Faith Christian School’s elementary and junior high campus.

“We're just going to rebuild the street. [It’s] in kind of poor shape,” Grapevine Public Works Director Bryan Beck said.

According to city documents, the project will focus on concrete paving, gutters, sidewalks, handicap ramps and driveway approaches. It will also replace and lower a 6-inch waterline in the 600 block of East Worth Street.
